More than meets the eye...

Ta Da! It feels like it's been a while since I sat down and did a scrapbook layout just for me! I almost forgot how much fun it is. Pretty basic, right? (Typical Amy. I like a lot of white space.) I used the old Monograms for the 'W' and my favorite alphabet, Marigold, for the 'altons' and "I just love 'em" was cut out in Oatmeal.

But wait... This scan is a good overview, but it blows out a lot of the cool detail.

Check out this sweet pattern from the QK embossing folders. (The photo shows it much better.) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this pattern. It's the Retro Diamonds border embossing folder (EF-BDR-028) and it totally matches the pattern on my paper. I also love the retro squares and the hounds tooth and the dots.... well, there are a lot. They're the perfect accents for my simple style. Which embossing folders best fit your style? ...because I just may have some for one lucky commenter.

I love that retro diamonds folder! But the dots are my fave. I'll have to go shopping to look for that diamonds folder.

I love the way that you used the retro diamonds on your page. I just bought the 2-in journaling shapes and am still experimenting with them. They are really cool!

I'm addicted to the QK Embossing folders! I don't have the retro diamonds quite yet, but they are definitely on my list. My current favorite is the A2 Journaling Block [EF-A2-031] I love using it on the insides of cards for more detail!

I love all of the QK embossing folders and hope to eventually add them all to my collection. It is so hard to pick just one favourite, but I think the top one for me would be the new Christmas tree A2 folder. It is so whimsical!!!! I have the Fall, Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas folders on my wish list right now :)

Oh WOW, that is a great effect!! I haven't tried the 12" embossing folders, but I think I need them now! I love the A2 size but would love to try out the 12" bubbles or the retro diamonds you used on your page. Thanks for the chance to win!

I'm having so much trouble keeping up with all the cool stuff! I've only borrowed embossing folders but after reading this post, I'll have to get some of my own!

Living in DENMARK - and HEY - the entire country is following the visit from your President today. Back to QK - Living in Denmark I LOOOOVE the snowflakes (until the real thing hits the ground and trafic goes bad..). My xmas cards often have snowflakes on them. My favourite would be the new large snowflake embossing folder. Used to get that size embossing folders from other companies - SO glad QK now do them.

I just bought the nativity embossing folder. I should also like to have the journaling blocks embossing folders, and the snowflake and...
Too many I like!

I just got the Christmas tree and the Christmas reindeer (love them), but my go-to folder is the polka-dots.

I love your photo too. Never tried the embossing folders. I think I need my LSS to show me what it's all about. Have lots of dies, especially the 4x8 alphas, but no embossing folders. Thanks for the kick in the pants to try something new.

I love all the embossing folders but particularly the retro because I have boys and scrapbook mostly about them. I do make cards so the circle, dots, lines and vines are very appealing as well.

I love the retro diamonds. I used it on a layout and used Coredinations cardstock so that I could sand over it, revealing the core color. LOVE THESE!!

The embossing is the perfect finishing touch! Love it!

I love your LO! I don't have many of the embossing folders, but I'd like to have ALL of them. :)

I love all of the journaling shapes. I also like all of the graphic backgrounds (like your diamonds). Especially when there are matching cutting files for the Silhouette!

I'm learning that the embossing folders really change the dimension of my cards and pages but are SUPER easy to use. Everyone thinks I spent a lot of time making my card and really it was very fast. I love them!!

My faves are the retro diamond and houndstooth. Your LO looks great!

I love how you matched the embossing and the paper! I haven't had a chance to try an embossing folder yet, but when I looked at the website I found a few I'd love to try. The nativity border, ornaments border, and any of the journaling blocks jumped out to me.

The retro diamonds folder was not on my wish list before, but it is now! Love it now that I've seen it in use!
My favorite embossing folder is the holiday phrases.... so elegant looking! I haven't got it yet, as the scrapbook store was out of it. I'm hoping they get more in soon!

I own every goosebumpz in 2x2 and 4x4. I love texture! When the embossing folders first came out, I wasn't sure they were going to do as nice a job as the metal embossing dies. It took me a while to order a few. "I love them all." Texture adds that little something--I include it on each and every project. I love the white backround on your layout with the embossing--that is classy!

I too love the journaling embossing folders! Thanks for the chance to win!

I love the polka dots but seeing your layout I am going to have to invest in the retro diamond one too!

Hello! I just received my new epic 6 tool recently...my very first die cutting system the only problem is I only have one embossing folder and one die cut plate. I would love to have the embossing folder that you used in your layout the retro diamond. Thanks for this chance. Angela

I never thought to use my 12'embossing folder in the manner you did. I love it and it has given me some ideas to use my fall leaf border. Now I too need to add the retro diamonds to my wish list. Thanks for the inspiration. Great photos too!

Beautiful pages! I love the dots embossing. I think it gives a very classic look. But I love the one you used, especially that it matches your paper so nicely!

My favorite is the journaling embossing folder-I use those on everything!

I have to say that one of my all time favorite embossing folders is the one you just used in this layout. The border embossing Retro Diamonds. I also really love the A2 size large dot embossing folder. It's very cool to just create texture. It adds subtle interest and makes backgrounds 'pop' without being 'too showy'.

I think I might have to try and find that metro diamons one. With my clean lines way of scrapping, I think it will fit in nicely.

Very Cute layout, Amy!! Love it, actually! I've discovered those too! Fun! --Pam G.

Awesome layout! The retro diamond pattern works beautifully on it. I really enjoy all the holiday folders because they make great cards :-)

I really like the one you posted but the flowers suits my style the best. I really like that there are 2 different types of flowers in it.

I love the vines embossing folder. I've only done embossing on cards, i must step out of my box and use them on my scrapbook pages...i guess that means the journaling folders are in my future. Thanks for the ideas.

I'd have to say the spiderweb border or the graveyard folder because I just LOVE Halloween!

Sanisi said...

I like the embossing with repetitive shapes (rather than one shape or words).

I love the way this is done. The combinations of different fonts. But the bottom really caght my attention. Sure would like to know how that was done.

Embossing adds such great dimension to layouts and your use of the retro diamond is wonderful. I love adding the different textures to my Quickutz shapes. They take on a more "professional" look I think when embossed.
